Some new developments in the ongoing legal case against former champion Jorge Barrios. As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Barrios was involved in a major traffic accident on January 24 in the city of Mar del Plata, which is south of Buenos Aires.

He lost control of his BMW SUV and crashed into several other vehicles. One those vehicles hit several pedestrians. Six people were injured, and a 20-year-old pregnant woman was killed. Several witnesses told police officers that Barrios was responsible for the accident and allegedly committed numerous traffic violations. The biggest obstacle for Barrios to overcome, in his legal case, is the fact that he fled the scene of the accident. He surrendered at a local police station a few hours after the accident.

Barrios was being held in a local jail but on Friday he was granted the option of bail and he was released. In a very favorable result for his case, the toxicology report finally came back and proved favorable. According to the report, Barrios had no traces of alcohol or drugs in his system. As far as leaving the scene, Barrios' attorney claims the fighter got scared and panicked.
