Former champion Jorge "La Hyena" Rodrigo Barrios, 35-years-old, could be facing a twelve year prison sentence for a manslaughter charge. Barrios is currently on trial in Buenos Aries, for an accident which occured in January 2010. Barrios was traveling in his car at a very high speed and lost control of his vehicle.

After losing control of his vehicle, Barrios crashed into another vehicle - and that vehicle slammed into Yamila Gonzalez, 20-years-old, who was crossing the street with her family members. Gonzalez, who was pregnant, was killed. Her mother and other family members suffered injuries. Barrios fled the scene and had another accident a few blocks away. He later turned himself in to authorities. Barrios did not test postive for any controlled substances or alcohol.

The lawyer for the family of Gonzalez asked the judge to sentence Barrios to twelve years in prison, a punishment that exceeds the sentence of three and a half years that was requested by the prosecutor.

Adrian Rodriguez, the lawyer for the family, stated - "He never showed any signs of remorse" and the lawyer also stated Barrios "fled after the accident and threatened witnesses."
