At the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, on the undercard to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Matt Vanda II, Jorge Arce (51-4, 39KOs) stopped former WBO flyweight champion Isidro Garcia (25-6-2, 8KOs) in the fourth-round to retain the WBA interim-super flyweight title.

A close fight at the start, an inside fight with both fighters exchanging hard body punches. The same pace continued for the next two rounds, with Garcia being very game, until the fourth when Arce unloaded with some bodyshots against the ropes and Garcia went down. Garcia managed to beat the count, but Arce jumped on him with a barrage against the ropes. Because Garcia was not throwing back, the ref stopped the fight.

Arce now wants a fight with WBO super flyweight champion Nonito Donaire in early 2009.
