WBO super flyweight champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce is not taking any chances with Cecilio "Boga" Santos. Arce faces him on April 24 in Mexico, but has a tentative fight with WBO-interim bantamweight champ Eric Morel hanging in the balance for June 26 on the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-John Duddy undercard at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Arce (53-6-1, 40 KOs) plans to punish Santos (23-13-3, 14 KOs) at the Multipurpose Center, and televised by Fox Sports as part of the "Top Rank Live" series.
"I am very happy and excited for this fight. The people in Obregon, Sonora and Mexico will be surprised. You will see a Travieso in top form, going for the victory like a warrior," Arce said.
"God willing we will return on June 26 against the Puerto Rican Eric Morel, and it will be a world championship fight for the WBO bantamweight title. It will be my fourth [divisional] championship and a major climax for my career. I have the strength to succeed."
