WBO super flyweight champion Jorge Arce will look to make history when he moves up to bantamweight to challenge the WBO's interim-belt holder Eric Morel of Puerto Rico on June 26 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The main event will feature Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. John Duddy. Arce will first have to get past a title defense on April 24 against Cecilio Santos at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico.
"I'm a warrior and I do everything I can in the ring. I'm very excited to fight before the people of Ciudad Obregon, who are knowledgeable in boxing. I have have no doubt that I'll give them a great show," said Arce.
Arce wants to become the first Mexican to win four titles in four weight divisions, but Arce's claim to that will not be valid because Morel holds an interim title, and Arce's title at flyweight was an interim title and in other weights he held "international" versions of major titles.
"I want to make history by becoming the first Mexican in the world get four belts in four different divisions, but I want to defeat Santos first," Arce said.
