During his long career, former champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce of Mexico has never faced a Puerto Rican boxer. He may get his wish in May, if a deal is reached to face unbeaten Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. for the super bantamweight crown of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

"I'm ready and excited for the opportunity to fight a Puerto Rican. I know the rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico and I have a desire to fight a Puerto Rican," said Arce to Carlos Gonzalez. "It would be a classic because of our styles. Vazquez is a brave fighter. He is young and comes forward and you can tell that he's eager to be great in the ring. He talks a lot but first he has to face a known opponent and here's one."

There are ongoing talks to make the fight between Top Rank and All Star Boxing. Vazquez is a big favorite to win the contest. Arce is not going to make the victory easy for the young Puerto Rican star.

"I'm not a stepping stone for anyone. I better be dead in the ring if I'm leaving without a victory. I will leave everything in the ring and make sure that I'm going leave with the victory," Arce said.
