WBO bantamweight champion Jorge Arce (59-6-2, 45KOs) is looking to push forward after winning his fifth world title, in a fifth weight division, with a twelve round decision over Angky Angkotta last Saturday at Plaza de Toros Rea in Mazatlan, Mexico. Arce said the local fans helped him through, after the Indonesian boxer rallied late in the fight.
"I was hurt. He did hurt me and I felt like I was in trouble, but the fans in Mazatlan motivated me and pushed me on to keep going and to win," Arce said.
Arce announced to reporters that he plans to return on February 18th and doesn't rule out the possibility of a sixth world title - at featherweight against the winner of the WBO rematch with Juan Manuel Lopez and champion Orlando Salido. Arce's main interest stands at super bantamweight, where he recently vacanted his WBO title. The Mexican veteran is looking to face Nonito Donaire, should he defeat Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in a planned February bout for the vacant WBO title that Arce left behind.
