At the Estadio Dorados in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, welterweight prospect Omar “Businessman” Chavez (24-0-1, 17 KOs) knocked out Rodrigo Juarez (15-12-1, 11 KOs) in the fourth round of their rematch with a combination of hard shots that sent Juarez down for the full count. Chavez fought Juarez in May. He won by split decision over eight rounds but many in the crowd felt Juarez won the contest. Chavez accepted the rematch to set the record straight.

WBC lightweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (53-7-2, 32 KOs) had more than his fair share of struggles on route to winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Fidel Monterrosa (24-1, 18 KOs) of Colombia. The style of Monterrosa, combined with a very slippery ring that created a condition that saw severla slips, created a lot of problems for Soto. The scores were 115-112, 115-112, 118-109.

In the main event, former champion Jorge “Travieso” Arce (55-6-2, 42 KOs) and Lorenzo “Lencho” Parra (31-2-1, 18 KOs) fought to a ten round draw in a WBO super bantamweight eliminator.
