Mexican star Jorge Arce is training hard and plans to continue through the holidays in preparation for his upcoming fight with WBC/WBA/IBF super flyeweight champ Vic Darchinyan on February 7 at The Pond in Anaheimin, California with Showtime televising.
"It's going to be a hard fight for me. Darchinyan is strong. I watched video of his fights with Cristian Mijares and against Maldonado. He really hits hard, but he also has a lot of technical deficiencies and I have to take advantage of that," Arce said to ESTO.
Arce believes that Darchinyan is most dangerous in the early rounds, and then tires down the stretch. He feels that if he can weather the storm in the early going - he put Darchinyan away in the late rounds.
"I'm going to do some great work to beat him. One has to slip his punches and not take punishment, but if I connect he may go away quickly. His power seems to drop down after the fourth round. The real danger is in the first few rounds. I have to tire him out," Arce said.
