Take two old warriors, place them on pay-per-view and make a bundle in the end. Mark Taffet of HBO PPV advised Dan Rafael of the high pay-per-view buyrate for Felix Trinidad vs. Roy Jones Jr.

Despite the overwhelming negative press, the event still managed to generate 500,000 buys, with $25 million in domestic television revenue. The buyrate was higher than HBO, and most insiders, expected.

The numbers are not final and Taffet expects them to rise once the total numbers are compiled. Jones, at age 39, managed to produce the second-highest pay-per-view buyrate of his career. The first, at 604,000, was achieved when he won the WBA heavyweight title from John Ruiz in 2003.
