Junior middleweight contender Carson Jones (34-8-2) has been training in Big Bear, Calif. for his showdown against Kell Brook (27-0). The fight takes place in the Brit's backyard on July 7th.
During Jones' recent appearance on The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show, he spoke in depth about what amounts to the biggest fight of his career.
Jones has fought on the road before and said that he isn't worried about the crowd. He also think that Brook is under estimating his abilities.
"Kell Brook seems like he is confused about me. He doesn't know how determined I am. I have 8 losses. If I was going to quit I would have already. The crowd doesn't matter. It's just me and him in there. I hear that there will be like 10 to 15,000 fans on hand but they aren't in the ring."
The 25 year old Jones said that part of the reason he has 8 losses on his ledger is due to mismanagement early in his career. He feels that those losses have made him a better fighter and more knowledgeable with the business aspect of boxing.
"Earlier in my career I was mismanaged. Thrown in there with guys I shouldn't have been in there with. They were just looking to make a quick buck. With those losses I have matured and learned from them plus I know a lot more about the business," Jones told us on The Boxing Lab.
When asked for a prediction, Jones confidently stated that the fight wasn't going the distance.
"I'm going to win by knockout. Why stop my knockout streak?" Jones stated.
