Junior lightweight Jonathan Ramirez defeated Adrian Pacheco by majority decision Friday night at the Auditorio Blackberry in Pacheco’s hometown of Mexico City.

One judge scored the bout 95-95, while the other two judges scored the bout 96-94 for Ramirez, who improves to 10-3, 7 knockouts.

It was a tale of two halves as Pacheco was the more-effective fighter during the first half of the fight. The shorter Pacheco was able to connect with left hooks and uppercuts to the head of Ramirez.

By the midway point of the fight, Ramirez made necessary adjustments. He began to land from distance and did his best by countering Pacheco. The significant difference during the fight was when Ramirez landed a counter hook to the head that stopped Pacheco to the canvas.

The win for Ramirez, who resides in Guanajuato, Mexico, could not have come at a more-opportune time. A loss would have given him two losses in his last three bouts. With the win over Pacheco, the 25-year-old has now won eight of his last nine bouts.

Pacheco drops to 9-5-1, 5 KOs. He is now winless in his last four bouts.

Featherweight Daniel Haro suffered his first loss as a pro as he was stopped by Moises Zenteno (1-3-2, 1 KO) of Puebla, Mexico at 1:27 of the fifth round.

Haro, who is originally from Merced, California and now resides in Tijuana, Mexico, drops to 4-1, 3 KOs.

In a clash of lightweights who reside in Mexico City, Axl Rai Miranda of Mexico City improved to 5-1-1, 4 KOs by stopping Ramon de Jesus Beltran (2-2-1, 1 KO) at 2:43 of the first round.

Junior featherweight Eric Pabon Mercado of Puerto Rico dropped Carlos Gonzalez (2-1) once in the second round en route to a unanimous decision victory. Scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 38-37 for Pabon, who improves to 3-1, 2 KOs.

The card was promoted by longtime promoter Ricardo Maldonado, who heads Producciones Deportivas.
