An appearance on ESPN is on the table for welterweight JoJo Dan. On February 11 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, the Romanian JoJo Dan (27-1-0) will be involved in one of the main bouts to be showed cased on the third event in the Fast and Furious series, which is being presented by Groupe Yvon Michel. The performance will be broadcast live on American cable network ESPN2. BoxingScene.com/Netboxe.com recently obtained an interview with his coach, Pierre Bouchard, to learn more about the situation that awaits his boxer in the coming months.
Do we know who the next opponent is for JoJo Dan?
"I gave my okay for an opponent. We must now ensure that he can be secured. There's another one that I'm also look at just in case. It is not yet approved because I have a few details to look at," said Pierre Bouchard, while refusing to disclose names. "What we seek is a guy who is going to be competitive. Who really comes to fight. The two names are guys who have fought on ESPN. So they are known to Americans and to us it is important. It is not only a fight to stay active."
"JoJo has a nice little window right now, we want to see how it plays out. He is in a good place and waiting for the development with Berto and Ayden. There should be a quick elminator battle this year. He must be efficient and continue to use every encounter to advance. "
JoJo Dan is actually waiting for an eliminator for the WBC world title, which is currently held by the champion Andre Berto. He might also lose his crown if he does not confront Selcuk Aydin, the mandatory, as required by the WBC. This fight televised on ESPN is coming at a good time to consolidate his position.
"JoJo Dan gave a good performance against Aydin. A few people were lucky enough to see this fight considering it happened in Turkey. ESPN on Feb. 11 is a fine showcase for JoJo. We would have liked for him to fight on March 19 at the Bell Centre along with Lucian Bute, because it'll be a big card. But given the situation involving the career of JoJo, we had to ensure that boxing soon to be available when it will appeal. For example, he could quickly be engaged in an eliminator."
Is there any chance to see him also on the boxing card presented by InterBox at the Bell Centre on March 19?
"On March 19, he will not be there. There are already three big fights on the card (note: Bute vs. Magee, Molitor vs. Ndlovu and Renan St-Juste vs Edison Miranda) and it is expected that Benoit Gaudet and Sebastien Gauthier are also going to fight. JoJo, we wanted a fight for at least 10-12 rounds. In our case, appearing on the February 11 event at the Bell Centre is a great opportunity."
