Philippine flyweight champion Jojo Bardon has scored a spectacular first round TKO over hard-hitting Japanese prospect Yuki Nasu at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

Well-known boxing manager, matchmaker and journalist Joe Koizumi reported that Bardon stunned Japanese fight fans with his “blitzkrieg” in which he dropped Nasu twice forcing the referee to call a halt at 2:08 seconds of the opening round.

The Filipino flyweight champion nailed Nasu with what Koizumi described as “a wicked left hook and sent him sprawling to the canvas again with a flurry of punches.”

Bardon swarmed all over the Japanese forcing the referee to end the massacre as Nasu was groggy and in no position to continue.

With the win, the 28 year old Bardon improved to 23-10-2 with 10 knockouts while the 25 year old Nasu dropped to 14-3 with 11 knockouts.

Bardon lost his OPBF title to Masahari Naganawa in a controversial split decision last August 19 in a fight where one judge had the Japanese winning by a lopsided 119 -108 score while the other judge who also scored it for Naganawa had him winning by a 116-113 margin with the third judge favoring Bardon 115-112.

Bardon had earlier won the vacant OPBF crown with a split decision over Naganawa on March 18 when two judges had him the winner 115-113 while a third judge scored it for the Japanese 116-113.
