At the Robin Park Centre in Wigan, Lancashire, British lightweight champion John Murray (26-0, 14KOs) retained his title with an eight round stoppage over Lee McAllister (27-2, 5KOs) after catching the challenger with a left hook to the body. McAllister went down from the shot to the body and barely made it to his feet. The referee, John Keane, stopped the fight.
McAllister was not strong enough to keep Murray at bay, who continued to press the fight with harder punches.
"I kept my head, I didn't lose my cool and I think I kept it together today and broke him down steadily. I wanted him to fight my fight. If Khan wants to fight I'll knock him out in two rounds," Murray said.
