Looks like John Molina could return to the ring in early June on an ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights” telecast, promoter Dan Goossen told Boxingscene.com earlier this week.
No word yet on an opponent or if Molina will continue campaigning at the lightweight limit or at 140 pounds, something he has expressed interest in doing in the near future.
In his last fight on January 11th, Molina knocked out Dannie Williams in the fourth round of a scheduled 10 round bout.
Prior to the Williams fight, Molina (25-2, 20 KOs), who hails from the Los Angeles suburb of Covina, was stopped in the first round at the hands of Antonio DeMarco on September 8th.
Molina has mentioned to Boxingscene.com in a previous interview that it is difficult for him to make 135 pounds and would fight again at that weight only for a world title or in a significant bout. He is currently ranked number five by the IBF and number seven by the WBO at 135 pounds.
He has already resumed training at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard this past week.
