Former WBC Welterweight Champion John H. Stracey (45-5, 37KOs), is launching a nationwide tour of boxing exhibitions around Britain, to help knock out crimes involving guns and knives.

John who traveled all the way to Mexico City to defeat Jose Napoles back in 1975, is coming out of retirement to participate in the exhibitions.  He’s also planning to recruit more British greats to put the gloves back on and participate.

John who’s determined to raise awareness of the scourge of knife and gun crime said: “I want to turn kids on to boxing, because I know if a kid is into boxing, he won’t be on street corners making trouble. I believe a boxer is a great role model.

“I see something wrong with our society, and I want to help. I think now is the time to muck in.

“I’m also convinced that there are kids out there who could be the next Joe Calzaghe or Ricky Hatton, but don’t yet know it.”
