John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, believes promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom has "egg on his face."

The elder Fury was reacting to some of Hearn's comments with respect to Tyson's finalized crossover boxing match with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Their showdown takes place on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.

Ngannou has been tabbed by most observers as a tremendous underdog in the contest.

Hearn believes the fight will be a mismatch, but he credits Fury with securing a big payday for an "easy fight."

"The circus of a Fury vs. Ngannou fight, I'm sure it will do well but the problem is that it's just not competitive at all. What you're actually watching is two guys sort of [move around]. People keep trying to get soundbites from me having a go at Fury fight Ngannou, I don't knock it because he's getting [a lot] of money for an easy fight," Hearn said.

While John fully expects his son to win, he shot back at Hearn's belief that it won't be a competitive fight.

"I've said it before, he's a total utter idiot and the only thing wrong with him is jealousy because he's not put it together. He did say he's the only man that could make a fight happen in Saudi. How much egg has he got on his face today?," John Fury told The Mirror.

"The man's not worth listening to and he doesn't know what he's talking about. If he knew what he was talking about [Anthony] Joshua would still be a world champion. Those men are idiots, that's been proven. The only thing that's wrong with him is he's not promoting it and he hasn't put it together. The man's a total idiot, enough said about that man."
