John Docherty will make his professional debut in a few weeks’ time.
The talented amateur signed a promotional agreement with Matchroom Boxing recently.
Docherty, who landed Commonwealth Games bronze for Scotland in Australia in April, will be trained by Tony Sims in London and is set to campaign at super-middleweight.
And it has now been confirmed that the 20-year-old will be in action in the paid code for the first time on October 13.
The bill on which ‘The Doc’ will make his pro debut is topped by Lewis Ritson’s vacant European lightweight title showdown against Francesco Patera at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports.
Docherty beat England’s Ben Whittaker to reach the semi-final stage and land his medal on the Gold Coast and cannot wait to get his paid campaign underway on a card which will feature WBA International light-heavyweight champion Joshua Buatsi and Yorkshire heavyweight David Allen.
There's action elsewhere on the card from IBF European super-bantamweight champion Thomas Patrick Ward, cruiserweight Lawrence Osueke and super-welterweight Joseph Laws, while Commonwealth super-lightweight champion Glenn Foot will also box on the card in a clash against Robbie Davies Jr., the Liverpudlian who is the current WBA Continental king, as the pair vie for the vacant British belt and Craig Glover meets Simon Vallily in an official cruiserweight title eliminator.
