Joe Mesi, coming off an unimpressive 6-round decision over walk-over opponent Stephane (Brutus) Tessier (3-8, 1KO) of Longueuil, Que., has decided to skip his scheduled fight on July 8 in Louisiana due to sore knuckles from his win over Tessier last Friday. Father and trainer Jack Mesi told the Niagra Gazette that sore knuckles and possible bigger fights are the reason they are pulling out.
“We’ve decided to pull out of the next fight. His knuckles are a bit sore, which will prevent him from preparing properly for the fight. We also wanted to protect bigger opportunities. We didn’t want to jeopardize our next big fight,” said Jack Mesi.
Jack Mesi said that Mesi would return in August and the bout would be scheduled outside of the United States.
