The coronavirus has already caused several March boxing cards to be postponed or canceled but the hope is that the sport and everyday life in general will get back to normal in the very near future.
Frank Warren put out a press release last week that stated they are planning on going forward with their big April 11th show pitting Daniel Dubois against Joe Joyce at the O2 Arena in London.
BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Joyce who is training in Las Vegas for the fight.
One of the topics we discussed is the upcoming Anthony Joshua-Kubrat Publev fight that is scheduled to take place on June 20th. Joshua, who recaptured the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles in his December rematch against Andy Ruiz, will be sizable favorite when they enter the ring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Joyce is in agreement that Joshua should win but warns that in the heavyweight division everyone has a puncher's chance.
"Well you never know. It only takes one punch in heavyweight boxing but I am quite confident in Joshua getting the victory there," said Joyce.
Joshua boxed more cautiously in the Ruiz rematch and didn't take many chances after getting caught in a firefight in their first showdown. Joyce expects him to box in the same manner against Pulev.
"I think he will probably keep what he has learned and box but he obviously has the power to finish it off. I don't think he will go looking for it but when it comes it is there," Joyce told BoxingScene.com.
