Four-division champion Mikey Garcia (39-0) has won titles from the featherweight division up to the super lightweight division.  For his next challenge, the California native would like to move up to 147 pounds and face IBF welterweight kingpin Errol Spence (24-0).

After his dominant victory over Robert Easter Jr. in July to unify titles at 135 pounds, Garcia said, "I don't know if there is anyone that is a bigger challenge than Errol Spence. I know he's up to fight everyone so let's make it happen. I think it can be made. I think that's the next big fight coming up."

There are ongoing discussions to make the fight happen either in late 2018 or the first quarter of 2019.

Garcia will face a serious size disadvantage and will be a big underdog in the fight if it comes to fruition.

Garcia has captured world title at featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight and junior welterweight. Spence has been on a furious streak as of late, with a stoppage last year of Kell Brook to capture the IBF title in Sheffield, then a battering of Lamont Peterson earlier this year in Brooklyn, and then a first round knockout victory of mandatory challenger Carlo Ocampo back in June in Texas.

Hall of Fame referee Joe Cortez recognizes the difference in size but believes that it will still be a good fight.

"I think it is good. Mikey Garcia has proven himself. He has been undisputed world champion in [four] different weight classes. He is going to go down in history as one of the better fighters. He is still young and has a lot of talent. I think Mikey has a long ways to go in boxing and I think he will do very well,"  Cortez told BoxingScene.com.
