It appears that WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe is turning his attention to WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler. For the last few weeks, Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren has been trying to put a fight together with WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor for September.

Negotiations for the fight have hit a roadblock. Warren is refusing to offer more than $5 million and a piece of the gate. Taylor's promoter Lou DiBella is refusing to take less than $6 million, the same amount of money Taylor received for facing Winky Wright last June.

Calzaghe told the Guardian Unlimited that Taylor does not want to fight him, so he will go to next best option and try to make a fight with Kessler in September.

"I still believe I'm at my peak, I think the fighter I am today would beat the fighter I was five years ago. The Lacy performance was probably my best ever. Against Manfredo the speed was there, but unfortunately he wasn't up to the job, so I'm just feeling good at the moment and looking forward to the big fights," Calzaghe said.

"Taylor doesn't seem interested, it doesn't look like he wants to fight me, and the next biggest name out there is Kessler. And fair play, in the last six months he's had some good wins - he had a fight on HBO, he's moving off."
