Joe Calzaghe has been the WBO super middleweight champ since 1997 and even though he moved up to light heavyweight in April to beat Bernard Hopkins, and faces Roy Jones Jr. on September 20, also at lighy heavy - he is not going to give up the title he defended a record 21-times. Calzaghe says that after the fight with Jones, he is moving down to 168 and a fight with current WBO/WBC middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik is the target.

“There is no way I am going to give up my WBO title,” Calzaghe told writer Ron Lewis. “I do not have a mandatory [challenger] at the moment, so I do not have to defend my title. If I beat Jones, I might move back down to super middleweight to face Kelly Pavlik. I still feel young."

Calzaghe says that a bout with Pavlik is one that will motivate him to continue his career after fighting Jones, which he previously said would be the final fight of his career.

"It all depends on how I perform against Jones. There's a good possibility I may fight on. I need fights that motivate me. Kessler motivated me, Hopkins motivated me, Jones motivates me. And Kelly Pavlik has been hanging around.”
