Former super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32KOs) has no regrets with announcing his retirement after a twelve round decision win over Roy Jones Jr. in November 2011. Some felt Calzaghe's retirement was premature. The Welsh fighter says his retirement came at the right time. After many years of hand injuries, Calzaghe was no longer able to put his punches together in camp.
"I couldn't train any more, my hands were gone," Calzaghe said to Sky Sports. "My boys were getting older, I was doing everything I'd wanted to do and I thought I wanted to be one of the fighters, the few fighters, that retires on their own terms - at the top.
"I just thought it was the right time to go and if I could turn back the clock, would I keep fighting? No, I'd do the same thing."
