"Joe Calzaghe – My Life Story," is a biography style DVD, co-produced by Calzaghe himself. The DVD is getting some good reviews from the UK media. One part of the film will focus on Calzaghe leaving promoter Mickey Duff to hook up with Frank Warren. Calzaghe stayed with Warren for over a decade before the two of them parted ways not long after Joe's close decision win over Bernard Hopkins in April.
In the movie, Calzaghe says he jumped to Warren and tried everything he could to get out from under the shadow of former champion and UK superstar Prince Naseem Hamed. At the time, Calzaghe says the media on both sides of the ocean were all over Hamed, while he was unknown and not getting any exposure.
"It was a bit frustrating because I wasn't getting any exposure. Prince Naseem Hamed would come along and everybody would know about him. He was getting TV exposure but what was bad was one, that I was not getting the opportunity to fight for a world title and two, I was not getting the exposure," Calzaghe was quoted as saying by the Sheffield Star.
"It was like I was being kept a secret. I was knocking everybody out, I was doing what Naz was doing minus the flip over the ropes! You have to give him credit, at the end of the day he was a great performer."
Calzaghe faces Roy Jones Jr. on Saturday night at New York's Madison Square Garden.
