BoxingScene.com has been informed by a source in the IBF that a proposed fight between Joan Guzman (29-0, 17KOs) and Yuri Romanov (21-2, 14KOs) has been approved for the vacant lightweight title. Guzman and Romanov are the two highest-ranked "available" contenders to fight for the title. Guzman is ranked at number 7 and Romanov is sitting a number 9.

There is no date for the fight. The two sides have to begin negotiations to complete a deal and set a date. The title became vacant last Friday when Nate Campbell was unable to make weight for his fight with mandatory Ali Funeka.
