The negotiations are already taking place to finalize a deal for a junior welterweight bout between Joan Guzman (33-0-1, 20KOs) and Khabib Allakhverdiev (17-0, 8KOs). The vacant "regular" WBA 140-pound title would be on the line. Guzman was ordered by the WBA to face Pablo Cesar Cano, who rejected the opportunity. Guzman's promoter, Aquinity Sports, has set their target on Khabib.
Khabib's manager, Vladimir Hryunov, said the following:
"Yes, we are in negotiations regarding the organization of this fight. I think that it would be a great opportunity for Khabib, as Guzman is a well-known boxer, a former world champion in two weights, and has no defeats. This fight could take place in Russia, the Dominican Republic or the United States and at stake will be the regular WBA junior welterweight championship."
