Jimmy Kelly Jr. has signed a new managerial deal.
The Wythenshawe super-welterweight, who unsuccessfully challenged Liam Smith for the WBO world title last December in Manchester, is now being mentored by the same team as ‘Beefy’ after inking with MGM Marbella.
Kelly Jr. (19-1, 7 KOs) has had three successive victories, all on points, since losing to Smith, exclusively live on BoxNation.
The move to MGM comes just 16 months after Lee Beard was named as Kelly’s manager and he also follows fellow ex-Beard-managed fighter Jack Catterall, who is the WBO Inter-Continental champion at super-lightweight, in joining the Puerto Banus-based firm.
"Jimmy is a quality operator,” a spokesperson for MGM said.
“To challenge for a world title at such an early stage of his career highlights the talent he possesses.
“We firmly believe that Jimmy will be back at that level soon and we look forward to seeing him progress in 2017.”
Details of Kelly’s next fight will be revealed in due course.
