Longtime HBO blow-by-blow announcer Jim Lampley will again be heading both of the network’s boxing franchises, beginning with this Saturday’s broadcast of “Boxing After Dark” featuring light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson vs. Adonis Stevenson in the main event and a co-feature of Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Darley Perez, according to a network news release.

This move comes because Bob Papa — who has been with HBO Sports since 2007 — has taken a greater role with the Golf Channel, which has led to conflicts between broadcast dates, according to HBO.

Though he will no longer be the regular blow-by-blow voice for “Boxing After Dark,” the news release said Papa will remain in a working relationship with the network and could be seen on HBO again on days when more than one broadcast team is needed, such as with a split-site doubleheader.
