The featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Jhonny Gonzalez, made it clear that he is ready to defend his title against any opponent, but his main interest is to face the high-caliber fighters in his division, such Puerto Rican Juan Manuel Lopez, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Pamanian Roinet Caballero, Dominican Elio Rojas and even WBO champion, Orlando Salido of Sonora.
"I want to be a world champion who gives opportunities to any opponent who wants to face me. I will not be one of those champions who doesn't want to fight. I know that there are three or four fighters who want the opportunity...there's Gamboa, Panama's Caballero, Elio Rojas and Juan Manuel Lopez," Gonzaled said.
"To fight these rivals, all I ask is for them to be serious. For example, Elio Rojas went to my dressing room during my last fight in Atlantic City. And we told him that we'd gladly fight him. I would give him a chance just like anyone else to face me on the 15th of September in the United States. But be clear, I have no fear to face any challenger. A world champion must prove their quality in every fight."
