The featherweight world champion of World Boxing Council (WBC), Mexico's Jhonny Gonzalez (51-7, 45KOs), is in good condition to meet a very difficult obligation on the 28th of April, when he faces the mandatory challenger Elio Rojas (23-1, 14KOs) at a location to be determined. In the presence of a WBC supervisor, Gonzalez was on point at the WBC's 30-day weigh-in at the Romanza Gym in Mexico. Gonzalez stepped on the scale and weighed 135.8.
Gonzalez is training at the Romanza Gym with the legendary Nacho Beristain.
"Rojas is a dangerous opponent, but that's why we are going through a very strong preparation in the gym and in the mountains. We want to secure the great fights that represent good purses, but first there is a very difficult obstacle and we are ready to face this commitment. We will leave with the victory that's for sure," Gonzalez said.
