There is some talk in Mexico of WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (48-7, 42KOs) possibly facing former champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (41-3, 34KOs) in the fall. Last month Gonzalez stopped Hozumi Hasegawa in four rounds to win the belt. His next return could take place on July 2 in Campanhe, Mexico. The two likely opponents are still being pushed as Roinet Caballero of Panama and fellow Mexican Guty Espadas Jr. Following the homecoming defense, Gonzalez would like to have a major fight in the fall in either September or October. Gonzalez's promoter, Promociones del Pueblo, is trying to get his fall fight picked up by American television.
