Former champion Jhonny Gonzalez (42-7, 36 KOs) stopped Marlo Aguilar (21-9-1, 16 KOs) in four rounds to capture the WBC's FECARBOX featherweight title at the Auditorio Plaza Condesa in Mexico City.
Gonzalez started the fight fast, trying to put his opponent away early with hard combinations. He was cautious because of Aguilar's ability to throw hard counter punches. He hurt Aguilar with a hard hook to the liver. In the second round, Gonzalez continued to use his hooks to score. He picked up the pace in the third with an assault on Aguilar.
During the fourth, Gonzalez was working the jab to set up hard hooks to the body. Soon Aguilar began to drop his hands to protect the body and that's when Gonzalez battered him to the head. A left hook to the jaw had Aguilar in trouble. Two more right hands and then the ref jumped in to stop the fight.
