WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (51-7, 45KOs) is training for his mandatory fight against Elio Rojas on the Dominican Republic. No date or venue has been set, but the fight is scheduled to take place in the month of March. Gonzalez , 30-years-old, has a big goal in 2012 - to win a third divisional title. By the end of the year, Gonzalez wants to make his move to super featherweight to challenge WBC champion Takahiro Aoh (22-2, 10KOs). Now trained by hall-of-fame coach Nacho Beristain, Gonzalez believes 2011 was the best year of his entire career.
"I want to continue to rise. That is why I want to look for my third world title in a different division by the end of year, and go for the championship of the WBC at super featherweight, which is owned by Takahiro Aoh. At the moment I'm concentrating on my next fight, which is going to be in March against the official challenger Elio Rojas. It will be very hard, the Dominican is strong, fast, a great fighter, but I'm sure that I'll win. I'm waiting for them to give me the final date and the venue. But, I want to make my mark in boxing by winning three championships in three different divisions," Gonzalez said.
