World Boxing Council featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (57-8, 48KOs) says a fight with Gary Russell Jr. (25-1, 14KOs) is nearly 90% complete. The fight would be part of a three fight agreement between Gonzalez's promoter Osvaldo Kuchle of Mexico and Russell's manager Al Haymon. If Gonzalez wins, he would get a summer rematch with Abner Mares and then a fall fight with Leo Santa Cruz. The fight with Russell may take place on March 28th.

"Osvaldo told me there is a 90 percent chance that my next opponent is Gary Russell. There have been discussions with Al Haymon and the idea is to face his other fighters, Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz [after Russell], but there is also [mandatory challenger] Robinson Castellanos who just won and joins the list. I am focused on Russell, in March or April," Gonzalez told ESPN Deportes.
