Former champion Jhonny Gonzalez (54-8, 46KOs) will remain active with a planned return on July 27th in Mexico. Gonzalez lost his WBC featherweight title to Daniel Ponce De Leon last September due to an eight round technical decision. There was a rematch clause but Gonzalez never got a chance to exercise that option as Abner Mares knocked out Ponce in May to capture the WBC belt. Gonzalez has won two in a row since the title loss and now wants a shot at Mares' belt.
