World Boxing Association (WBA) "regular" featherweight champion Jesus Rojas is thinking about creating a lot of problems for his upcoming opponent, Can Xu of China.
Both fighters will collide on Saturday, January 26 in the bout where the Puerto Rican will make his mandatory defense at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
"This fighter is going to come forward, and everyone knows what kind of fighter I am. They are going to look for a big problem," said the boxer from the Cañaboncito neighborhood in Caguas to Jorge Ayala. "This is my moment and I want to continue giving victories and joy to my people of Puerto Rico.
Rojas (26-2-2, 19KO's) has analyzed the opponent and emphasized several aspects that will work towards the fight.
"The preparation we are doing are in the conscience of the opponent we will face. We are working hard on the jab, working the liver area, head movements and lateral movements," Rojas detailed.
Xu (15-2, 2KO's), ranked at number one, has won his previous 12 fights. On the other side, Rojas fell by unanimous decision in his last bout against Joseph Diaz - but Rojas retained the title because Díaz failed to make the required weight limit of 126-pounds.
"Xu Can is a 24-year-old boxer, he's 5'9" and comes with that hunger to be on the front pages of world boxing," said the Puerto Rican fighter.
The fight will be part of the event that will showcase the defense of the junior middleweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), the Mexican Jaime Munguia (31-0, 26KO's) against the Japanese Takeshi Inoue (13-0-1). , 7KO's), and the card will be transmitted through the DAZN streaming service.
