Former champion Jesus Chavez (42-4, 29KOs) returns to action on February 8 at the Castle in Boston, Massachusetts. The card will be televised on Telefutura's Friday Night Fights. Chavez fights for the first time since suffering a knee injury against Julio Diaz last February, which led to his three-round TKO loss.
Following that loss, Chavez had arthroscopic right knee surgery and was rehabing the injury for several months. Manager Lou Mesorana tells BoxingScene.com that Chavez is coming back in a "test the waters" bout, and the pace of his comeback will be determined, to a degree, by his performance in February.
"We'll see how he does when he gets back in the ring. After this fight, we'll see where we're at. We'd like to get him back in the ring 2 or 3 more times this year," Mesorana said.
