A welterweight unification bout between IBF titlist Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) and WBO belt-holder Jesse Vargas (27-1, 10KOs) is being discussed for the late summer. And talks are now coming to the final stages, it seems.
According to Cameron Dunkin, who manages Vargas,"They made him an offer. We've just been negotiating back and forth. We're just waiting to see if we can get it done."
On March 5th Vargas captured the vacant WBO title by stopping Sadam Ali in nine rounds at the DC Armory in the nation's capital. It's believed that Vargas will make his first seven-figure payday should he fight Brook.
When asked if he liked what was being offered to his client, Dunkin stated to BoxingScene.com,"I think it's very fair, yes."
As for when and where this fight would take place - "End of August, I believe they are talking about like the last Saturday in England,"said Dunkin.
But Vargas has to make his decision soon.
"Today, it's pretty close to the end," said Dunkin, who was the Beverly Hilton where the official press conference took place for the July 23rd junior welterweight unification tilt between Terence Crawford( who Dunkin manages) and Viktor Postol.
Brook was last in action back in March, when he demolished mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier in two quick rounds at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield.
