Junior welterweight contender Jessie Vargas (16-0, 9KOs) is ready to use Josesito Lopez (29-3, 17KOs) as a springboard to bigger and better things. Their fight takes place on Saturday night as part of the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz pay-per-view at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

During the last two weeks, IBF/WBA champion Amir Khan has targeted Floyd Mayweather Jr., who promotes Vargas under his Mayweather Promotions banner. The former five division champion advised Khan to fight, and beat, Vargas, and only then would he would earn the opportunity to fight him. In response, Khan advised Vargas to fight WBA "regular" champion Marcos Maidana.

Whether it's Khan or Maidana, Vargas would fight either man. But, if Khan wants a mega-fight with Mayweather - Vargas has vowed to prevent the British superstar from getting there.

"We'll take that challenge. I'm willing to take on whoever there is at 140. I have a lot of confidence in myself and my company does too, but if Amir Khan really wants the fight with Floyd - then has to fight me, so he better start looking into it. I'm very open-minded about fighting anyone, including Marcos Maidana," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.
