According to WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (27-1, 10KOs), everything has been wrapped up for his unification with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs).
He says the fight will take place on September 3rd. It was previously being targeted for late August.
Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, said the fight was going to take place in Sheffield, likely at Bramall Lane which holds a capacity of 32,000 fans.
Vargas captured the title earlier this year with a knockout victory of previously undefeated Sadam Ali. Brook retained his title against mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier with an easy knockout victory.
Vargas has been in the ring with top level opposition in the past, and so has Brook with his close decision victory over Shawn Porter to capture the IBF strap. Since the win over Porter, Brook's competition has been lackluster and boxer has received a lot of criticism.
The once-beaten champion, Vargas, took to the social networks to announce his fight with Brook.
"It's already confirmed. My next fight will be on the 3rd of September in England and it will be televised by [Sky Sports] PPV, HBO and Azteca! I'll be defending my championship of the world and I'll be fighting for another world championship, to add it to my list. On September 3, I will be crowned WBO and IBF champion," Vargas stated to his followers.
