Jessie Vargas, who won the WBO welterweight belt in March by stopping Sadam Ali, is all set to face IBF welterweight titlist Kell Brook.
"Everything is signed on my end," BoxingScene.com was told by Vargas, who will traveling to Sheffield, England for this unification bout.
"Now we have to see if Kell Brook is going to sign the contract. From what I hear they want the fight so there shouldn't be a reason why he isn't signing.
Bob Arum, who's company Top Rank represents Vargas, told BoxingScene.com - "It's a done deal, little points are being finalized but Eddie Hearn assures us that it's done."
Vargas is already in the process of preparing for this fight.
"That's been my mentality since we started talking about the fight. So I'm ahead of the game, already. My trainer Dewey (Cooper) has already been working on the game plan, actually since a little bit after the Sadam Ali fight. He's been studying him and we've been practicing things. We're doing that now,"said Vargas, who has a record of 27-1 (10 KO's).
"This is the first time I've had more than a full camp for an actual fight, an actual fight, an actual fighter, three, four months in advance. I already now who I'm going to fight. So it's so much more different. Sadam Ali tried to catch me by surprise with four-and-a-half, five weeks before the fight and I was able to prepare. This here now is very different, this is th first time I've been in this position where I know in advance who I'm fighting and it gives me plenty of time to prepare mentally because it's a tactical and technical game and you have to know how to pursue it the right way."
The fight is scheduled to take place sometime in September, meaning Vargas will have all summer to prepare for 'Special K'.
"I'm glad to be in this position, we needed time in advance and the promoter gave it to us. It's a big advantage,"said Vargas.
As for who will televise this in the States, Arum said on Monday - "I'm talking to Peter Nelson (of HBO Sports) about doing it."
