LAREDO, Texas – World ranked Jessie Magdaleno of Las Vegas and up and two-time Mexican Olimpian Oscar Valdez of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico have arrived in Laredo, Texas for their bouts this Saturday night at the Laredo Energy Center that will be telecast by Unimas in the “Solo Boxeo Tecate” series at 11:00 p.m. (East/Pacific).
Magdaleno (20-0, 15 KOs) will take on John Mark Apolinario (18-5-3, 5 KOs) of the Philippines in the main event schedule for eight rounds in the super bantamweight division.
“I feel that I am very close to fighting for a world championship and want to get the win and look good to show everyone that I ready to challenge for a world title,” said Magdaleno during a media workout here in Laredo.
Valdez (15-0, 13 KOs) will take on the roughed Jose Ramirez (25-5-3, 15 KOs) of Mazatlan, Mexico in an eight round featherweight bout.
“This is my second time fighting here in Laredo and the fans really supported the first time. I want to give them a good fight on Saturday night,” said Valdez.
The final press conference will be tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at the Energy Center.
Also on the fighting in the card will be Olympic medalists Esquiva Falcao (8-0, 5 KOs) of Brazil and Oleksandr Gvozdyk (5-0, 4 KOs) of Ukraine.
