Junior featherweight contender Jessie Magdaleno will return to the ring on July 11, manager Frank Espinoza told BoxingScene.com on Monday morning.
According to Espinoza, Magdaleno will be fighting on a Top Rank card that will take place somewhere in Texas. UniMas will likely televise the fight as part of its ‘Solo Boxeo Tecate’ series.
No word yet on who Magdaleno will face.
Espinoza hopes the 23-year-old Magdaleno will be fighting in his first 10 round bout.
“The time has come for Jessie to begin fighting 10 rounds,” Espinoza told BoxingScene.com. “He has been fighting a number of eight-rounders and now it’s time to take that next step.”
Magdaleno’s last 12 bouts have been scheduled for eight rounds.
In his last bout on May 1, Magdaleno (21-0, 15 KOs) dropped Raul Hirales twice in route to a one-sided eight round decision in Las Vegas, Nev. In that bout, Magdaleno worked with trainer Ismael Salas.
Magdaleno resides in the Las Vegas-area and is the younger brother of Diego Magdaleno.
