Back on September 22nd, Jesse Hart lost a close unanimous decision to WBO super middleweight champion, Gilberto Ramirez.
Both are in action this Saturday night at the Bank of America Center in Corpus Christi, Texas Ramirez faces Habib Ahmed as the main event on ESPN, while Hart faces Thomas Awimbono in an undercard bout that will be shown beforehand on ESPN.
Hart (22-1, 18 KO's), who hails from the fighting city of Philadelphia, yearns for another go-around with 'Zurdo' to avenge the only defeat of his pro career.
Their mutual promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, mentioned the idea of a rematch somewhere down the line if both boxers continue to win.
"Yeah absolutely, I mean I don't think it's too soon I definitely want a rematch," said Hart to BoxingScene.com.
"If I could've fought him on February 3rd, I would've fought him on February 3rd because when I watched the tape and I see how close one judge had it 114-113 (for Ramirez) after the knockdown, if that happened by a point - what if the knockdown didn't occur?"
After a rocky start where he was dropped and badly hurt, Hart rallied back late but lost on other two cards by the tallies of 115-112.
"What if I didn't get hit with a low blow? What if these things occur? I know I'm better than that. I know I can prevent everything that happened. I can prevent it from happening again. I just wont let the moment overwhelm me," promised the 28-year old Hart.
The fight could happen sooner than later, as the World Boxing Organization has Hart listed as the number one contender in their most recent rankings. Ramirez's upcoming opponent Ahmed is ranked at fourth, with number two ranked Callum Smith currently a part of the World Boxing Super Series, and the number three position belongs to Rocky Fielding.
