With an intense love for his Motherland and a desire to serve his country, the Republic of the Philippines, the reigning IBF super flyweight world champion Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas has successfully joined today (June 28) the Philippines Navy.

Ancajas is now active in the Philippines Navy and has being assigned rank by the Philippine Naval Reserve Command as Chief Petty Officer.  

The donning of rank was officiated by Philippines Navy Chief Rear-Admiral Robert Empedrad.  Empedrad is the Flag Officer in Command (FOIC) of the Philippine Navy.

"Pretty Boy" Ancajas, born on new year's day of 1992 in the beautiful and peaceful southern Filipino City of Panabo in the Province of Davao del Norte    -   captured his IBF super flyweight world title in September of 2016 by outclassing Puerto Rican fighter McJoe Arroyo.   The 12-rounder took place at the Philippine Marine Corps Fort Bonifacio.  

Since the winning of his red and gold IBF world belt, the 26 year-old  Ancajas (30-1-1, 20 KO's), has successfully defended it five times, four of them by stoppage.

Ancajas retained his title by stopping Mexican Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in Macao, ravaging with a body attack Teiru Kinoshita in six chapters in Brisbane Australia, overpowering Irishman Jamie Conlan in six rounds in Belfast Northern Ireland, stopping Mexican Israel Gonzalez in ten rounds in Corpus Christi Texas. and more recently defended title for a fifth time by outclassing in an ESPN televised fight fellow Filipino Jonas Sultan in Fresno, California.

After claiming victories, Ancajas was congratulated in person by the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Philippine Navy is the naval warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. 

It has an estimated strength of 24,000 active service personnel, including the 7,500-strong Philippine Marine Corps.   The Philippine Navy shares the responsibility of patrolling and protecting the maritime borders of the Philippines, together with the Philippine Coast Guard.
