Jermell Charlo does not have any intention of slowing down in training camp while waiting for a rescheduled fight date.

A planned undisputed junior middleweight championship rematch with Brian Castano was forced to move off its March 19 date when Argentina’s Castano (17-0-2, 12KOs) suffered a slight biceps tear. Charlo (34-1-1, 18KOs) isn’t exactly handling the delay in stride, maintaining peak physical condition to be ready to make the unbeaten WBO titlist pay for the delay once they are finally able to make their way back into the ring.

“Castano pulled out of the fight to buy more time for a bigger ass beat’n,” Charlo claimed through his verified social media account, accompanied by a picture of his chiseled physique. “It’s not on me, it’s in me. The air we breathe is not the same. True essence of what Lions Only really means.

“I won’t let this type of adversity slow my grind. I peep all they moves, two steps ahead. Tell Castano show those doctor reports and take them VADA [tests] so we can move forward with knocking his ass out.”

The planned March 19 headliner from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles was to come eight months after their thrilling first encounter, when Houston’s Charlo and Castano fought to a twelve-round, split decision draw. Charlo retained his lineal/WBC/WBA/IBF titles while Castano made the first defense of his WBO belt, though the sport was left without its first-ever undisputed junior middleweight champion in the four-belt era.

Efforts to crown such a king remain delayed by at least five weeks, with April 23 as the earliest possible working date to get the two back in the ring. Castano is reportedly maintaining his current weight while allowing his injury to heal before fully resuming training camp.

Charlo continues to carry it as if the fight is right around the corner.

“I’m in straight war mode. I don’t give a f--- what type of tricks they tryna play,” vowed Charlo. “Nothing else matters. I’m prepared to endure pain and find solutions at any moment.

“One more belt to grab and I’ve completed a dream than an eight-year-old (Charlo) once had. Never changed my mindset only to get stronger.”
