2014 National Amateur Heavyweight Champion Jermaine Franklin (1-0, 1KO) won big in his pro debut in Green Bay, Wisconsin at the Riverside Ballroom. Franklin of Saginaw Michigan scored a first round knockout over Deshawn Jenkins (0-1) of Milwaukee, who was also making his pro debut. Franklin dropped Jenkins twice in the fight. The first knockdown with a left hook and the second knockdown with a left-right combination in which Jenkins was counted out.
Franklin was originally schedule to fight March 7th due to the opponent's illness it was postponed. Franklin is managed by Pittsburgh attorney Mark Haak.
Frankilin had a big performance during last year's championship round of the National Tournament of Champions. The event was presented by Barry’s Boxing Center in Las Vegas along with Mayweather Promotions and Ringside, and featured about 300 boxers from all over the nation. The event drew strong media interest. Franklin had a fire fight in scoring a decision win over Cam F. Awesome of Lenexa, Kansas.
