Responding to a news brief that was recently posted on BoxingScene.com, promoter Lou DiBella reached out earlier today to set the record straight. A few days back, we posted some comments made by Mick Hennessy, promoter of unbeaten WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch. Hennessy went on the record with members of the UK press and told them that Taylor, the mandatory to Froch, was running away from his fighter by making a deal to challenge IBF champion Lucian Bute of Canada.

DiBella denies the statements made by Hennessy. Taylor has advised DiBella that he wants to fight Froch for the WBC title. Froch won the vacant title last Saturday after a gutsy performance against Jean Pascal in Nottingham. The twelve round contest was one of the best action fights of the year. DiBella watched the fight on a live internet feed, and he was very impressed with Froch.

“Contrary to what Mick Hennessey is saying, we are absolutely interested in fighting Carl Froch. If Froch is willing to come to North America, we are willing to make the fight. After watching Froch’s fight with Pascal, I will no longer say ‘who the Froch is Froch.’ I saw who he is and he’s a pretty damn good fighter. I think him and Jermain would make for a very good fight. Jermain told me that he wants the WBC title,” DiBella said.
